Chinese news portal Jing Daily has compiled a list ranking China’s 10 Most Luxurious Cities. The criteria? Living standards of the city’s elite, “internationalness”, designer shopping, and infrastructure.
Not surprisingly, Shanghai, long known as the “Paris of the East”, has come out on top. “The very worthy #1, with more luxury brands than any other city in China can come close to matching, not only does Shanghai have innumerable shopping malls and luxury retail locations, but its Bund luxury district is among the finest in the world.”
Listed in order of best/biggest shopping malls in Mainland China are the following cities: Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Qingdao, Xi’an, and Dalian. Of course, the report takes care to mention that Guangzhou and Shenzhen locals very astutely do their luxury shopping in Hong Kong!
