Missing the 80s and have a penchant for roller skates? Then look no further than the Minxin Roller Park, which will be hosting the ‘Better than Roller Revival’. The night will be filled with 80s hits and a live performance from Anita Schwanz & The Dudettes. The only rule is to come dressed in your most impressive 80s roller attire.

To add to the mix, also be free crepes and a lucky draw, with prizes ranging from vouchers for tai chi classes, massages and yoga sessions.

For a more folk/pop/indie feel to your Friday, head to Yuyintang for the UK’s Frank Turner’s session promoting his third album, Poetry of the Deed. Expect indie vibes influenced by The Pogues and Billy Bragg, with an opening set by acoustic tropical rock group, Break for Borneo.

Kathleen’s 5 will be honouring World AIDS Day with its fifth Annual Candlelight Memorial Dinner. All the proceeds from the gala will be donated to the Chi Heng Foundation, which supports China’s orphans and destitute families affected by the virus. Dinner will be from 6:30-10:30pm, followed by a celebration party and an after-party.

Take part in Shanghai’s first ever kiss-in flash mob for Love and Equality this Sunday, 6pm for the International Day Against Homophobia! The kiss-in happens at 6pm at a rooftop attached to a bar somewhere along Xizang Lu. Sign up here if you’re interested, and you’ll be told exactly when and where to meet tomorrow.

As part of none other than the Expo, the Italian pavilion will be hosting the International Competition for Young Opera Singers.
