Tonight, the Source clothing store will host a Hip Hop Culture Session. Street artists straight out of Germany and MCs, DJs and beatboxers from Hong Kong and Korea will be flying in to blend a live hip hop set with art installation.

Kicking off tonight and lasting ’til 31st May is the Shanghai Repertory Theatre’s 2010 Spring Arts Fesitval. The whole programme can be found by clicking here, but tonight will have a Brazilian flavour, with performances from Shanghai’s resident capoeira group, Capoeira Mandinga Shanghai. Pre-sale tickets cost 150 RMB and can be bought on www.ticket2010.com, or 180 RMB on the door.

The Royal Asiatic Society will be hosting a morning walk with one of the most revered members of the Shanghai literati, Tess Johnston. The French Concession tour will take you through the backstreets of Huaihai Lu, past the villa of Chiang Kai-Shek and to the old Donghu Hotel, formerly owned by Green Gang Boss Du Yuesheng. For an intimate afternoon of high culture, the Seifert Quartet, part of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, will be gracing Crystal Room with an afternoon of Chamber Music. Tickets cost 65 RMB, including a drink, and students can get in for 10 RMB.

in the mood for European electro? Then head to the Dream Factory. The Expo’s Polish Pavilion has designed its cultural programme to bring us a horde of Polish electronic artists and bands, including electro trio KAMP!, visual artist Skinny Patrini, DJ Mike Polarny and DJ Hory, Jacek Sienkiewicz, SLG and Shanghai’s very own Polish DJ Razor.
