Well over 100,000 RMB was raised at a successful Jazz du Funk fundraiser Wednesday night to pay for continued medical treatment for Domonic, brother of one of the company’s dancers. According to publicity information for the event, Andrew (Domonic’s brother) has been teaching at the studio in Shanghai so his brother can seek medical treatment here. Domonic fell from a hotel walkway in Thailand, breaking his neck, and with continued treatment he is hoping to recover movement below the chest. The goal had been to raise 25,000 British pounds for Domonic’s treatment and, with fundraisers that have already taken place in the United Kingdom, that goal has no been surpassed. Wednesday’s event included Latin, ballet and contemporary dance performances and an auction, and was followed by the regular Wednesday-Saturday program at Gosney and Kallman’s Chinatown.
