Monday: Graphic Design by M.C. Escher, Flag-wavers performance “Contesa del Secchio”
Dutch graphic designer Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) is famous for his drawings of mathmatically impossible constructions, but he also made prints of Italian landscapes and self portraits. This exhibition will focus on Escher’s art works combined with biographical material and photos. May 31 – June 13.

The flag-wavers of the group “Contesa del Secchio”, are putting on a new performance with lots of color, spontaneity, drums and trumpets. Free admission.

Wednesday: Shanghai Essence @ The Mix, Italian National (Pizza) Day @ Pizza Marzano
The Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC) presents a panel discussion on the changing landscape of Shanghai both physically and culturally. With the large influx of people from other parts of China and the rest of the world, how has this changed Shanghai? Join film-maker Shu Haolun, journalist Yu Lei and historian Andrew Field for a discussion into the essence of Shanghai. Free for members, 50rmb for non-members.

Thursday Chicago Improv All-Stars, TransmitCHINA Ginger Beef Tour
The Chicago Improv All-Stars return to Shanghai for two nights of hilarity on June 3 and June 4. Their troupe has done 1,400 shows around the world to rave reviews and we are pumped to have four of their main players here in Shanghai. Presented by ChopSchticks, both shows kick off at 8pm at Number 5 Bistro on the Bund. Tickets are 250rmb in advance; 300rmb at the door. Buy tickets here.

French pop / folk band Cocoon will be playing for the first time in China. The performance features vocals, acoustic guitar, ukelele, and keyboards.
