Most of us won’t get to see Tales of Two Cities, a Hong Kong production specifically set up for the Expo that performed on June 25. But if we’re lucky, someone will upload more than just the teaser trailer to this dance/love story to Shanghai, Hong Kong and Eileen Chang.
From the Hong Kong @ Expo site:
Hailed as “a choreographer’s choreographer” by Chinese contemporary dance legend Lin Hwaimin, Helen Lai is critically acclaimed for her emotionally charged dance theatre. Her new work, Tales of Two Cities, has been specially commissioned for the Expo 2010 Shanghai. The production tells the stories of Shanghai and Hong Kong, the two most dynamic powerhouses in China, through the life and works of Eileen Chang, the most gifted Chinese writer to emerge in the 1940s.
Through the eyes of Chang in her twilight years, Lai reconstructs the writer’s life and times with intriguing flashbacks to her golden days and characters she created in her masterpieces.
