Thought the end of Expo would mean the end of giant construction projects in Shanghai? Ha, how naive! Shanghai’s only gotten a taste of creating huge structures out of nothing, and now it’s revealed its plans to make what would essentially be Puxi’s answer to the Lujiazui business district in the South Bund area.
Four proposed developments will begin in 2012 right by the Inner Ring Elevated Road, a little north of the current Expo grounds. Altogether, there will be 35 new skyscrapers covering 260,000 square meters. But Shanghai’s officials want you to know that they’re not all about just building – 169 old homes will be slated for preservation. We’ll see how that goes.
Above are the pictures of the developments – Sorry for the bad resolution, but I haven’t found better ones so far (if someone does, please point me in their direction). Under each picture will be a description of what’s planned for that plot of land.
