So uh… Shanghai in Motion Part II randomly disappeared from Vimeo about an hour or so after I watched and posted it. Weird, but whatever – I managed to find Shanghai in Motion Part I this morning. Is it just me or is Vimeo having strange search problems? Anyhow – this one was in the same vein as Shanghai in Motion II, but about the Expo rather than the whole of Shanghai. Still worth a watch for the pretty, pretty pictures. Let’s hope this stays up.
This amazing video, Shanghai in Motion (Part II, though Part I was nowhere to be found), shows off some gorgeous HD shots of Shanghai set to an atmospheric track.
It was apparently made by people in the Rhone Alpes Pavilion. Haven’t heard of it? That’s probably because you haven’t had a chance to go to the Urban Best Practices Zone yet. As they describe themselves on their website:
The Rhône-Alpes Region is taking part in a World Expo for the very first time. 117 proposals were submitted for the brand new “Urban Best Practice Area”, and two projects put forward by the Rhône-Alpes Region, the ‘Green-built Pavilion’ and the ‘Villes Lumière”’ (cities and light) project, were selected. ERAI has been appointed to help carry both projects forwards.
If this video is any indication of the technical quality and good artistic eye at the Rhone Alps Pavilion, I’ve got to get me there soon.
