Perhaps influenced by a spate of metro accidents in Shanghai, some guy with a death wish recently uploaded a video of one of the subway trains on Line 3 coming head on. How did he make the video? By jumping onto the tracks as the train was coming and quickly lying down, filming it taking place overhead. WHAT THE HELL.
The video first showed up on Youku on July 24 and shows Youyi Road Station on Line 3 sometime at night. In it, you see as the video maker sees a train coming and jumps onto the tracks. He then lies down at the last minute and films the train going above his head and past him.
At the end of the clip, he claims he “fell down accidentally.” Metro officials, and anyone who actually watches this remain unconvinced. From Shanghai Daily:
The train driver engaged the emergency brake, the subway operator said.
The man left before Metro staff rushed to the scene, and he hasn’t been found, the operator said.
Metro officials said the incident did not have a big impact on operations since it occurred just before the station closed.
Nonetheless, police said his actions were dangerous and that the offender will be detained or fined.
As he probably should be. The last thing we want – especially considering how crowded and delayed the metros have been lately – is a bunch of people trying this stupid, stupid stunt.
