While Shanghai has only just gotten comfortable enough for everyone to leave windows open in lieu of air conditioning, it seems that Dino Beach has already considered summer to be over. The water park closed its doors last Sunday, to be opened when the weather becomes unbearably sticky again. So I suppose this is as good enough a time as any to feature these artistic and ghostly pictures of the place.
Dino Beach Water Park (or 热带风暴 “Tropical Storm” in Chinese) is located in Minhang and includes Asia’s largest wave pool, eight water slides, three swimming pools for kids, a mile-long river with rapids and things like “Beach Beauty competitions.” CNNGo visited earlier this year, so head there for their opinion.
Art photographer Carlos de la Rúa headed there to snap photos. By keeping all the day photos in black and white and taking all the night photos with a longer shutter speed, he brings out a side of the Shanghai’s normally garish man-made beach not normally seen, and turns it into something haunting and poignant.
