So this week, mega-artist Sean Kingston is here, if you haven’t already gathered from the article title. Maybe the music schedule cleared up this week to make room for this sensation? Not the busy week we’re accustomed to, but nonetheless – some great live music out there!
Tonight is the big arrival of Sean Kingston. For those who don’t know this guy – don’t listen to the pop radio much, eh? He’s the artist behind “Beautiful Girls”, “Fire Burning” and “Take You There”. His more recent songs include “Eenie Meenie” with Justin Bieber, “Letting Go (Dutty Love)” with Nicki Minaj, and “Dumb Love”. Those will all be on his third album, slated for release soon. So late tonight, there’s gonna be “fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor” of M1NT. Tickets are 300 at the door for non-members.

At Shiva Lounge, they’re hosting a big DJ line-up for their Golden Festival. This includes notables as Alex Bull, Lomas, Mia, Dave K and Skinny Babou. We’re to expect “funk, deep house, minimal techno, tribal tech house, and a whole lot of fun”.

German import, Masha Qrella is on stage with her band at Mao Livehouse. Her music should not be overlooked any longer. She is regarded by many as the most refined and timeless indie-pop singer of the last few years. Her music walks the line between melancholy and feel-good, electronic and acoustic. Come Thursday, Bardi Johansson of Bang Gang brings his eclectically euphonious hits to Mao Livehouse. For those who can’t make it, he’ll be playing in the Icelandic Pavilion as well. We hear the songs “exude diamond sharp sadness, paranoia, passion and intensity” with “carefully constructed melodies and computerized rhythms”. Check out their Myspace page right here. 200RMB cover.

The Puppet Mastaz have collaborated with some of the best beat makers in Europe. Their show is at times comedic, at times dark, and always a combination of fantasy and strong songs have won them a huge following in France and Germany. What they do is completely unique, energetic, and like the Gorillaz, they create a fantasy world of unique characters rapping about the plight of puppet rights.
