In a half-hatched plan to curb water consumption, Shaanxi Normal University has installed six female urinals on it’s Chang’an and Yanta campuses (Weird Asia News.) According to the signs posted inside each stall, “If every woman can urinate standing, Shaanxi Normal University can save 160 tons of water.”
Dispite attempts to make the stalls girly and inviting, nobody wants to use them, and those who have tried find they simply can’t go. According to a Times of India article on the project, “some teachers and student leaders are now involved in popularizing the concept and helping female students to overcome their shyness in using it.” Do I see a female urinal mascot in the works??
Making the process ever more troublesome, female urinals require the use of a funnel. In the public realm, these usually consist of diposable hard paper funnels. But a quick google search uncovers a whole world of portable urinating devises, such as the aptly named SHEWEE (“stand up and take control!”)
Unsurprisingly, the university professor spearheading the campaign is a dude.
