All the things you’d want to do this Monday through Thursday. On the schedule this week: LoGo’s last week, a few scary movies, and Shanghai PRIDE gives it up for the ladies. Read on (or check out our calendar) for more!
Dada kicks of the week with heaps of international electronica at Whisper Festival. Levi Pop of Ninja Tune records, whose sound has been described as “Prince making out with Dylan in Syd Barrett’s bedroom,” will be collaborating with Bunny Holiday, L.A.-based electro-punk queen whose risqué live shows are apparently “already the stuff of LA legend.” Also in attendance, Berlin’s techno pioneer Mijk Van Dijk. FREE, 9pm, Dada, 115 Xingfu Lu, near Fahuazhen Lu, 幸福路115号近法华镇路
It’s that time of the month again! What?! Yeah, that’s right. It’s scrabble time. What a great excuse to get out of the house while the weather is still moderately tolerable, drink some drinks, and flex your lexicon. Head over to Cotton’s around 6pm for 2-for-1 deals. Each drink gets you five tiles, team up or go it alone on our special Shanghaiist giant scrabble board. Most points at the end of the night wins 250 RMB worth of drinks at Cotton’s. See you there! 6pm to 10pm, Cotton’s Xinhua, 94 Xinhua Lu, near Fanyu Lu (新华路294号, 近番禺路)
If, like many of us, you’re all bent out of shape over the approaching closure of LoGo this weekend, head over for the last KINETIC, their weekly dance lab of all things techno and electro. On the docket this week: The Uhhh (festival tech and electro) and Mau Mau to support. 9pm, LoGo, 13 Xingfu Lu, near Fahuazhen Lu, 幸福路13号，近法华镇路
Chabrol Cafe will be screening a few horror movies this week to get you spooked and ready for Halloween, starting with Silent Hill on Tuesday and continuing with Shutter Island on Thursday (both beginning at 7:30pm.) The place sounds cozy but small, located down one of those lane house alleyways off Nanjing Xi Lu, so make sure you call for reservations (8621) 6253 1906, ask for Peter. 7:30pm, Chabrol Cafe, Nanjing Xi Lu, Lane 1025, No 93, 南京西路1025弄静安别墅93号

One of our favorite local charities, BEAN, is holding a Halloween Costume Party this Thursday to raise money for their adopted migrant school Fenfa. Come dress up and drink for a cause! Help BEAN reach it’s 10,000 RMB goal, which will all go towards helping supply Fenfa with English curriculum and books for their new library. The night will include costume prizes, drink deals, live music, pool and dart competitions, and an auction! Sounds like the perfect place to trial-run your robot costumes for Saturday. 9pm, Kangaroo Bar, 33 Yongjia Lu near Maoming Lu, 永嘉路33号，近茂名南路
