At Simon Wang, models slowly sauntered to a live jazz singer’s crooning, pausing midway to strike heavily angled poses. The concept, a jovial Wang said during a chat after the show came from the French Revolution. The looks went from dark, romantic, and repressed–seen through some of the bondage outfits–to bursts of color, court jester ruffle collars, polkadots, and shimmer. “Over-freedom” he termed it. We’re not sure if we’re completely on board with his whimsical fashion forecast however Wang said one trend he hopes will go away is pajamas as streetwear, “…[L]ike, hello, you’re not in your living room.” And with that, we can wholeheartedly agree.
