With leaks like this, the Diaoyu Senkaku spat between Japan and China will never be over! According to the Associated Press, the video appeared on YouTube on Friday, and was widely picked up by Japanese television networks. In the video, sirens wail and Japanese coast guard repeatedly use Chinese to tell a ship to stop. At one point, a voice on the video says in Japanese “The ship is taking aggressive action,” and then the Japanese vessel is rammed.
Japan says it is currently investigating the clip, making sure it’s authentic and, if it is, determining how it was leaked in the first place.
China’s Foreign Minister has already issued a comment, saying: “A video of the September 7 incident cannot change the fact that the JCG illegally intercepted and seized the trawler. Japan’s actions severely damaged the rights of Chinese fishermen and China’s sovereignty over the islands.”
ESWN has all the parts of the video up on their site.
