We’d like to take this time to direct special attention to Charles Custer (captain of one of our favorite China blogs) and his new project: a documentary about kidnapped children in China. They are currently trying to raise funds on Kickstarter to finish it off.
Or as they explain:
We want to chronicle this struggle [thanks to child smuggling] and bring attention to the problem by filming a full length documentary following the struggles and successes of adult children looking for their original homes, stricken families searching for lost children, and the selfless volunteers who dedicate their lives to reuniting broken families. We hope that our film can attract attention that will bring help to the thousands of families struggling to cope with the theft of their child and the knowledge that their only child is probably being raised by someone else, simply because they were willing to pay.
We’ve covered the topic ourselves, from the peaceful protests by bereaved parents to when the government finally started a website to facilitate the picking up of found children.
So the least we can do now is ask everyone we know to go and help get this documentary made! You can pledge anything from a dollar (which will get your name listed in the film) to $2000 (which will buy you Charles’ love eternal). The trailer is embedded after the jump.
