Not long ago US Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour was doing the rounds in Beijing and she was even spotted taking a tour of the Shanghai museum this past Thanksgiving. Over the course of her trip, she met with local design talent Uma Wang and surveyed the overall Chinese market but apparently, the Chinese fashion crowd couldn’t stop yakking to her the entire time about Marc Jacobs.
Now we’ve always explained the Chinese insatiable appetite for Louis Vuitton (Marc Jacobs is behind that house in addition to two namesake lines) on label whoring but maybe it could be an actual appreciation for the Marc Jacobs aesthetic as well.
NY mag quotes Wintour as saying:
“I’ve just come back from Shanghai and Beijing and everywhere I went, to dinners, meetings, museum visits, I heard the same thing: ‘Miss Wintour, do you know Marc Jacobs? Could you possibly get me Marc Jacobs’ autograph? A signed photograph? Please ask Marc Jacobs to come here and to collaborate with the Chinese artists.’ So Marc, on behalf of 1.3 billion Chinese, consider yourself invited.”
