Taken from the opening line of the article “Getting fat: A growing problem in Shanghai”. The piece states that 31% of Shanghai is overweight, 60% of families consume excessive oil and over half of the men here are on 20 or more cigarettes a day. Though every so often a new report will come out bemoaning the urbanized population’s weight gain and unhealthy living practices it’s never been quite so articulately put as this one.
