Oops. Late last night, CBS released the following video on its own website and its Youtube channel, with the following caption: “China Celebrates 2011: Fireworks lit up the skies over Hong Kong as China rang in 2011.” Only problem is, the city in the video is not Hong Kong at all, but Taipei, on some island called Taiwan. The centrepiece of this year’s fireworks is the Taipei 101, lit up with the words “100 ROC” to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Republic of China. Shanghaiist’s insiders at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tell us that they’re elated to hear that CBS believes in the One China policy. Cheers to better cross-strait ties in 2011.
