These pictures of what’s on Tianjin’s drawing board shows its future looking noticeably brighter and greener in under a decade’s time. Surbana Urban Planning Group has whipped up a 30-sq km Eco City filled with cutting edge green technologies designed to put Tianjin at the forefront of eco friendly urban development.
The seaside municipality of Tianjin is already one of China’s most livable cities and if the plans come to fruition, some 350,000 lucky residents there will be able to enjoy a community with solar and wind power, rainwater recycling, sea water desalination and of course, ample public green spaces. The government has additionally promised to reserve 90% of the traffic within the Eco City for public transport and the city itself will be located just ten minutes from the business district – all of this to happen by 2020.
Hm, what can we say? It all looks and sounds good. We hope it goes better than Thames Town.
