In case you were hoping for something fun to do on a Thursday and you didn’t already know about it, Time Out: Shanghai is celebrating their first year of existence at Gosney & Kallman’s Chinatown. You’re invited.
100RMB entry at the door gets you six drinks (soft, beer or mixed liquor), which works out to a pretty great deal. Plus, you’ll also get a free copy of shanghai:sound, a CD they’ve produced with Converse starring local bands I’m sure you all know: Boys Climbing Ropes, Duck Fight Goose, ChaCha, MHP and a whole bunch of others.
Too short notice? Well, the celebrations do continue on into next Saturday (January 29th) – they’ll be hosting their Sex and the Cinema party at Lola with an exclusive screening of Red Light Revolution, a Beijing sex shop comedy.
About the film:
Red Light Revolution Dir Sam Voutas, China, 2010 Witty, Chinese indie number starring Shunzi (Zhao Jun) a Beijinger who’s down on his luck, losing both wife and job in one day. After moving back to his (disturbingly randy) parent’s hutong he meets a flamboyant Japanese investor who persuades him to open a sex shop, sparking a raunchy revolution in the seemingly-conservative neighbourhood.
The shanghai:sound CD will be available there too.
