If you saw our other post on the Forbes ranking of Chinese billionaires and felt a sense of admiration for these fat cats followed by a surge of envy, then you’ll probably like this list of top billionaire-producing universities even more.
“An annual list, compiled by China University Alumni Association and released last week, analyzed the educational background of nearly 2,500 of China’s billionaire based on five domestic and overseas rich lists between 1999 and 2010 and Peking University, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University take the top three spots on the 2011 list with 79, 70 and 66 billionaire alumni respectively.”
So what school should you go to if you’re aiming to be the next Robin Li? Here’s the full top ten:
1. Peking University – 79
2. Tsinghua University – 70
3. Zhejiang University – 66
4. Fudan University – 46
5. Renmin University of China – 30
6. Shanghai Jiaotong University – 25
7. Sun Yat-sen University – 22
8. Nanjing University – 20
9. South China University of Technology – 18
10. Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University – 17 (tie)
We half expected it to be a regurgitation of the C9 league but curiously missing is Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Science and Technology of China and Xi’an Jiao Tong University – wonder what happened there. Locally, you have two options to put you on your path to fortune, Fudan and Jiaotong, though Jiaotong’s output seems to be only half of Fudan’s.
Anyway, what are you waiting for? You can start enrolling now.
