RainbowSpace, the Shanghai LGBT Centre, launched late last year at 696 Weihai Road, but like all the other tenants at the doomed artist enclave, they’re getting kicked out, ostensibly so that the new landlord can build a new creative compound (haha!).
An announcement seen on the Weibo account of RainbowSpace reads:
Dear Comrades, RainbowSpace will be moving out of 696 Weihai Road on January 27, and we will be putting a halt to all our activities for the time being. There’s no need to be sad or regretful because this goodbye will just open the door to a new beginning! Please stay posted for our updates and we’ll see you again soon at a fabulous new location. Back soon! See you soon! [translation by Shanghaiist]
