JUE Festival has finally arrived! Don’t know what that is? Check out a video of last year’s highlights for a taste, or read their own explanation here. We’re in for two whole weeks of non-stop music and art events (check them out on our calendar, or see the full JUE program here), so get your eyes and ears out on the town and enjoy it! Tonight everything gets going over at Yuyintang, where the A GOOD DAY Records Showcase brings us folk and indie pop straight from Taiwan.
Playing tonight will be self-proclaimed not-a-“girly”-band We Save Strawberries (草莓救星), who rock out electric and have been knocking around the Taiwan scene for years. Check them out on Myspace, Facebook, or on their very pretty website.
Also performing will be Mr. Dadado (黄玠), who sings acoustic folk ballads that he hopes will some day “change the world.” According to JUE, while many may not know his name, they can probably sing his hit song “Shangrila” by heart. Sure enough, the melody totally sounds familiar. Check out his stuff here (site in Chinese.) He also has a Douban Group page, and Sina Weibo.
Concert starts early (7:30pm) and tickets are 120RMB at the door.
The rest of the JUE events this weekend are art-related, but for more music this weekend you can check out our Midweek Music Preview. On and don’t forget, Whitest Boy Alive plays the Zhejiang Dream Factory on Monday!
