Happy St. Patrick’s day! The cancelation of the St. Patrick’s day parade this year here and in Beijing was a little bit of a downer, but the festivities today are going strong. There are literally dozens of ways to celebrate the Irish national holiday, as shown here and here and here so no need to reiterate. Here are our top three picks for where to get your St. Paddys on tonight:
The Drunken Dragons pub crawl
The Drunken Dragons crew, who always promise a good time start their pub crawl at O’Malleys every Thursday at 9pm. It’s an all you can drink beer and standard cocktails affair for one hour and then a welcome shot at every bar after that. The bar hopping route is always kept secret, but we’re pretty confident that tonight is gonna be a good one and the fact that they’re starting at O’Malleys makes it even more appropriate.
St. Patricks day + a bar called O’Malleys? Need we say more? If you don’t feel like going on the whole bar crawl you could opt to stay at the Irish pub for their green beers (yes, that is beer dyed green, 25RMB), discounted Guiness and Kilkennys, and 4 Irish shooters special for 80RMB. They are also doing 150RMB food combos which get you either a pint of Guiness or Kilkenny with a fish and chips or a Guiness beef pie. Shanghaiist can personally attest to the amazing-ness of their chips.
Let’s not beat around the bush, St. Patrick’s day is indeed a day for cultural appreciation…but it’s also a really fantastic excuse to drink! Mural’s St. Patrick’s Day party deserves a special mention because it’s just so darn cheap. All you can drink green beer and cocktails, and specials on Irish liquors and Guinness for the low, low price of 50RMB.
