Other than the Toray Cup Marathon, the Jinqiao 8k race is the other event Shanghai runners can look forward to every year “rain or shine”. Now in its tenth year, the Jinqiao race covers a full 8km event or the 2km fun run that’s popular with families. Last year’s race drew over 6,000 runners and 300 teams.
The starting point is at Shanghai Pinghe School and crowds will gather in the early morning at 8am on April 10. Both race routes go in a simple rectangular route–you can have a look at the route map above–in addition, the official site tells us that there’ll be “fantastic stage performances, interactive games, a lucky draw and a fancy dress competition” and even an award for best cheerleading squad– hmm, those last two sound particularly interesting.
So if you feel like it, you can register at New Balance, Element Fresh, Benson Hair Salon and Megafit outlets around town. RMB100 includes race t-shirt.
