You know what they say…one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Now’s the time to do a bit of spring cleaning and clear out some of your unwanted, gently-used clothes because the good people at the William the BeeKeeper boutique are putting together the first annual Shanghai Closet Swap on May 14th.
They describe it as “one part clothing swap, one part indie shopping market”. Shoppers are invited to reduce their carbon footprint by exchanging clothes but it’s also a fantastic opportunity to discover new labels and mingle. There’ll be pop up shops from local indie designers and several boutiques will also include their new spring lines and sample sale items. The event is 40RMB per person and that includes a complimentary drink and tote.
Here is how you can take part broken down into three easy steps:
1. Another One’s Treasure
Spring cleaning. Rummage through your closet and pick out the slightly worn clothing you no longer wear but think would still look great on a friend. Reduce your carbon footprint by swapping it, instead of throwing it out.
2. Drop It
Stop by William the BeeKeeper before May 11th and exchange your clothes and accessories for Clothes Swap tickets. Depending on the category your items fall into, you’ll receive between 1 and 3 tickets per article or accessory.
3. Cocktails and Swapping
Swap and shop with at Cotton’s on Xinhua Road on Saturday, May 14th, from 12pm to 4pm. Use your tickets to refresh your wardrobe, and use your wallet to delve into the sample sales and spring designs of a few indie designers. Unused tickets? Save them for the next event, or trade them in for credit at William the BeeKeeper.
