Why you should grab a bite: Maybe we should begin with a short introduction to The Freshary. Run by Paul and Sara Bergman, the ice cream and baked goods shop is dedicated to completely organic and vegan treats. All their stuff is made without preservatives, trans fats or any kind of artificial additives and they’ve just opened up a second shop on Julu Lu.
Now if you’re thinking, “Vegan? That doesn’t sound good.” Stop right there. Their goods are packed full of flavor and I pinky swear this is coming from a completely carnivorous eater. The texture is a bit heavier than what you’d get from a traditional recipe (the best comparison would be the difference of white bread to wholewheat bread) but that’s one of the main reasons we like it. Plus, it never leaves that sickening feeling you get in your mouth after one too many treats.
We’ve tried the pumpkin, dark chocolate, lemon cornie, black sesame, and chocolate chip which were all fantastic, but in our books, their creative peanut butter and jelly muffin tops them all. We feel pretty clever when nibbling on these mini muffins because it allows you to indulge in some deliciousness but without cramming your body full of unhealthy stuff. See? You can have your cake and eat it too.
