SRT’S CREATIVE COLLABORATORS COMPETITION Feel like a little culture with your Friday night cocktail? Head over to Source, because they are teaming up with Shanghai Repertory Theater to bring you 8 of Shanghai’s up-and-coming playwrights sharing their latest work as part of the Creative Collaborators Competition. The evening will feature staged readings of each playwright’s original one-act, followed by audience Q&A. Stick around for the after-party as SRT launches their June Theater Extravaganza. CHIRINGUITO BEACH PARTY For two days (Friday and Saturday) Jiashan Market turns into a beach (or an adult-sized sandbox depending on how you see it) for the Chiringuito Party. Two days of all-you-can-eat tapas, a full DJ line-up with special guests from Japan, and live music. Tickets for each day are bought separately.

FIRST SHANGHAI CLOSET SWAP The Crew at William the BeeKeeper is hosting their 1st annual Shanghai Closet Swap. In the spirit of spring and all things green, people can clear out their closets of clothes and accessories they no longer cherish and swap them for something more desirable from someone else’s closet. The event will be a host to pop up shops from local indie designers and boutiques with new spring lines and sample sales; one part clothing swap, one part indie shopping market. Guests will reduce their carbon footprint by swapping, instead of throwing out, learn about labels they may not have heard of before, and find a new alternatives to mass retailers. Discovering something unique and buying locally, amongst friends and community, is all part of an important aspect of being green.
