Shanghai is not known for its dog-friendliness. There is neither enough green patches for them nor do they get much love from the Shanghainese government, who we’ve known to create ridiculous rules. But at least it’s become more affordable to legally own a dog – even if you’re now only able to own one. The new law instructs that dogs must be chipped and vaccinated before dog owners can register their pups, and that the only way to grandfather in your second dog is by registering them – for these reason, hundreds of people were storming Shanghais vets yesterday.
There were talks about lowering prices for dog licenses before as we’ve reported. Now, it really has become MUCH cheaper. While before, licenses were exorbitantly expensive at about 2,000 yuan, prices have been reduced to 500 yuan in a bid to get more pets registered.
And having a license for your dog is highly recommended, as unregistered dog are hunted and put down. So what are you waiting for? Go and get Sparky registered!
