100% Pure Beef, 100% Pure Man! McDonald's offers discount to men only
We'd like to inform all our male readers, and those that could pass for male, that there's still time to take advantage of the 'Man Day' promotion from McDonald's.
In order to celebrate the introduction of 100% pure beef in their burgers (wait, you mean that wasn't always the case?), McDonald's is offering half-off for the second burger on Wednesdays from 5pm to 8pm to the y-chromosomed members of the populace. What a deal!
The promotion is only limited to burgers featuring the new 100% beef patties, meaning Filet-O-Fish fans can take a hike. Featured burgers include the new and improved Big Mac, the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, and also the intriguing He-Man Woman Hater Burger (um, no, not really).
General manager Cao Wen Bao of McDonald's China says that the promotion is a reaction to the special deals that women and children can sometimes receive, and that McDonald's wanted to let men know that the fast-food giant hasn't forgotten about them.
Cao also said that Wednesday was chosen for the promotion as it was the middle of the workweek, perfect for men who wanted to have their own burger-binging alone time away from the demands of the naggier sex.
You might think this isn't a deal at all, what with all these rules. However, men following arbitrary rules to get a little burger discount strikes us as an apt example of the bureaucratic nature of life in China, and so we applaud McDonald's for their hyper self-aware marketing concept.
Oh, and the offer expires on June 7th, a Tuesday, so that means that May 25th and June 1st will be the only days to get your hands on some half-off burger action. Yes!
