Shanghai’s favorite giant basketball playing son is back in Shanghai with his American citizen daughter! Now one, Amy was born in the U.S. (to no small amount of controversy) and is visiting her parents’ home country for the first time. The family of three moved into a new apartment in the Hongkou area and have been careful to avoid media, so there are currently no pictures… except for this one:
Awww, always so nice to the fans.
Anyway, just because we probably won’t see much of Amy doesn’t mean we won’t see much of Yao. According to Shanghai Daily, his schedule for his time in China is pretty packed:
His return to Shanghai won’t be much of a holiday for the Houston Rockets star as Yao plans to record a program for Shanghai television for the Children’s Day next Wednesday. And from June 25 to July 4, he will be in Greece for the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in Athens. In August, Yao will also take part in a charity game as an event of the Yao Foundation, according to Zhang Ming-ji, manager of Team Yao.
It is unclear how long the NBA center, recovering from a leg injury, will stay in town and when he will fly back to the United States. “He’s been recovering great,” Zhang said yesterday. “And the decision whether to stay in the league rests with him.”
