North Korean "Global Happiness Index" ranks China no. 1, USA dead last

north-koreas-happiness-index1.jpg China is the happiest place on earth(!!) according to a new global happiness index released by North Korea's Chosun Central Television. China earned 100 out of 100 points, followed closely by North Korea (98 points), then Cuba, Iran, and Venezuela. Coming in at 203rd place is America (or rather "the American Empire", 美帝国), with only 3 happiness points. South Korea got a measly 18 points for 152nd place.

While their representative representatives might not show the vivacity on their faces (and a few slip ups might have been caught on video) I guess China's been right to gush about Pyongyang's future. Nothing says happy like government-issued proclamations of happiness.

  • Well folks I love a non biased political opinion

Now my unhappiness is complete :(
I must walk down to Waikiki beach, past an amazing variety of food, and relax on the sand, listening to the surf, feeling the breeze, smelly the plumeria blossoms, to truly internalize how unhappy I am.

When I run into my friends, we will have to go listen to music, and drink our choice of beverage to reflect on the depth of our unhappiness.

And there will be no one to tell me when to go home, there will be no fence between me and the ocean, there will be no concern over people offering opinions of the US government, only adding to our unhappiness.

I think I will pass on happiness for the moment.

Need to sell Apple products in North Korea. There a direct correlation to distance and accessibility of food to the parter country and the happiness index number.

Seems nobody is willing, while enjoying the free sandbag punching, to make least efford to find out this "Global Happiness Index"was just a farce made by Taiwan newspaper.
  • Yeah we can always count on north korea to give us the proper statistics! lmao!

Rankings systems of all types are absolutely ridiculous.

Don't like the way your country is ranked? Release your own ranking system!

Your university sucks? Tell your students how to answer ranking surveys!

Have no credibility? Write an ordered list!

The fact is that psychologically, people LOVE ordered lists. You may have noticed that they are frequently the most popular items on the internet. The must-have issue of many publications is the "list issue." Best universities, best employers, etc. Even the SI swimsuit issue is a sort of list. Who's the cover girl this year?!?!

Somehow lists feign gravitas that makes the universe appear to make sense, if only momentarily -- as if our tiny brains have somehow introduced a measure absolute, immutable order to a small corner of chaos.
  • I would trust a North Korean and immigrate to North Korea anyday, than go to American Empire and be a slave of the corporate mafia..who slowly sucks the blood and life energy out of people..

American aka Mafia has butchered more people than North Korea ever did...its a tiny little country not even the size of texas...give it a break...its not that bad....its the western press that gives a bad spin for the war mongers in the military industrial complex to keep going.

The west always needs a bogeyman to keep its war going...common...what can north korea do to the world...NOTHING..it has done nothing to the world so far...all banking crisis, IMF loan shark etc etc are did not come from north korea.. ..

Its a psy-ops...they cherry pick these stories to brain wash us....i never heard any good things about North Korea ever and yet all Crime on humanity ever commited came from the west...

Are you retarded? This report is just a simple example of how much communism their is in China. That place is terrible to live. The United States and Canada are the happiest places someone could live. People are brainwashed in North Korea and China. They will never know what future opportunities lay ahead in the West (Canada, USA). It is very unfortunate that the will never get the chance to freely express themselves and not have freedom of speech or civil rights.  http://thesituationist.wordpre...
look at this link and see how terrible China is to live in.

"Are you retarded? This report is just a simple example of how much communism their is in China."

    1. China's economic system today is hardly communist.  Post-Mao China has followed the classic East Asian paternalistic capitalism model, just like Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea did a generation or two ago.

    2. Politically, China is a one-party oligarchy and not a full-blown democracy.  This is no secret.  But it's not something specific to communism.  Lots of right-wing one-party oligarchies (and even dictatorships) have also existed all over the world over the past century, and their administrative structure was very similar to that of China's.

    3. The "West" isn't just the United States and Canada.  It's a very ambiguous term, but it always includes western Europe (UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, et al) and Australia/New Zealand.  The term "West" is relative.  In a discussion about USA/Canada/Western Europe vis-a-vis say Brazil or Argentina, the term "West" is rarely ever used to describe the former.

    4. The USA and Canada are not the only countries that attract immigrants from China or from anywhere. Several countries have a much higher immigrant-to-native ratio than the US. And there are Chinese communities all over the world from Italy to Australia to Argentina. Nor do most Chinese emigrants leave for political reasons. Almost all leave for economic reasons, and the rate of emigration from China has slowed down in recent years with China's new prosperity. Regarding North Korean emigrants: the USA and Canada aren't even in their vocabulary. By far, the primary destination for North Korean refugees is SOUTH Korea, but many end up staying in China for various complicated reasons.

    5.  China doesn't come anywhere close to North Korea insofar as brainwashing the public and isolating the population from outside influences.  Chinese people are able to access most foreign films, able to travel abroad, able to talk with visiting foreigners...while China has work to do in the area of human rights, it doesn't come close to North Korea.  Suggesting that China is even remotely similar to NK is completely laughable.  And even in North Korea, it's debatable if most North Korean people actually believe what their government tells them, or if they just say what their govt wants them to say and worship Dear Leader out of fear of being sent to a death camp if they fail to comply.

    6. The economic difference between the United States and China has to do with the fact that the USA industrialized 100 years ago, while China is industrializing and urbanizing NOW, and has only been openly trading with the world for 30 years (with Den Xiaoping's reforms in the late 70s).  In fact China today looks *a lot* like the United States 70-100 years ago, with regards to an emerging industrialized economy, growing international trade, people moving en masse to the cities, and a political system that has yet to respond to these social and economic changes with the proper regulations and supervisory institutions (like the need to prevent melamine in milk).

    7. The political differences, however, between the USA and China are very small.  There's a huge difference between the USA and China in their LEGAL systems (the USA has a far better court system, legal system, legal protections for suspects, free speech, what-have-you).  However the *political* systems (different from *legal* systems) are very similar between the two countries.  In both instances you have a political establishment (in China, the Communist party, in the USA: the Republican/Democratic parties) which retains its public consent to rule by distributing propaganda, and making it impossible for additional political parties to enter the arena.

    8. Don't take this "world happiness" report so personally and so seriously. You're getting so worked up over a report meant purely for domestic consumption from the world's most repressive government. You should take this as a joke. Not as something threatening in any sort of way. No one in the US or Canada will read this report and say "oh, okay! NK isn't so bad after all, we should consider their system".

While you're correct on many of your points, I think they're falling on deaf ears here.

North Korea's not THAT bad.  Its neighbors have nothing to fear from it, apart from the occasional hijacked aircraft (Korean Air YS-11), bombing (Korean Air flight 858), assassination attempts (Blue House in '68; Rangoon bombing in '83), kidnapped citizens (Japanese nationals kidnapped from '77-'83), nuclear weapons tests, naval skirmishes (ROKS Cheonan), shellings (Yeongpyeong Island), and the potential refugee crisis waiting to happen namely because certain leaders decided to bankrupt the nation in order to develop a weapons program rather than improve the lives of its own citizens.

No one's denying that the foreign policy records of many Western countries are tainted by injustice.  But to claim that one of the saddest, most tragic places on earth is really one of the happiest, but isn't seen as such because of an elaborate public relations/military psy-ops campaign to brainwash the world, is absolutely ludicrous.  If it were such an idyllic wonderland, you'd have waves of South Korean refugees fleeing to the North, rather than North Koreans fleeing through China to South Korea through embassies in Mongolia, Cambodia, and Thailand, which is presently the reality on the ground.
  • lol....its funny...and you believe 911 was planned by osama sitting in a cave in Afghanistan ..wake up bro...its all psy-ops...All the tragedies you mentioned are never proven..just blamed on north koreans...

How do you  know..it was done by American intelligence and blamed it on North Koreans...Remember Bay of Pigs or Vietnam War...American CIA has proven time and time again to start global war by killing their own people and blaming it on others..

and yes...Please Please read history of Pearl Harbour....Its now fully known that Roosevelt had prior knowledge of Japanese Plane approaching pearl harbour...but he did not warn them and let it happen to start another war..

and yes...watch Pat Tilman story...how American government killed one of their own as a recruitment machine....

My friend...only conspiracy research can save humanity...there is a huge conspiracy to enslave humanity through wars ..
  • Get a f_cking clue, retard

It's neat that in the terrible, mind-mafia controlled Western countries you can describe, I can actually read about all of these things and more.  When you enter North Korea, say goodbye to that internet connection and access to gems like Godlike Productions, Above Top Secret, and DavidIcke.com which are all, strangely enough, websites based in the US or UK.  Huh, if the conspiracy was so extensive, you'd think they'd get around to shutting down those sites to prevent people from finding out the "truth."  Oh well.  I'm sure it's a simple oversight on the part of our reptilian overlords.

Also, I'm sorry, but I find it hard to take anyone seriously who believes that the plot of a laughably bad American science fiction show (V) is actually a reality. Next you'll be telling us that there's really a race of sentient machines that has us plugged into a virtual reality construct in order to use us as a power resource and the only person that can save us is a washed up surfer bro who gave up time-traveling to become a computer programmer.

Note: The study only measured government-issued happiness.
  • can you translate that clown-language-table into something readable, please?

I guess the people trying to leave these countries to obtain citizenship in Canada, Australia, and the United States haven't heard the news yet.
  • Its only the ignorant and brainwashed who think there is something more than back home travel to the west...those who know and understands who controls this world and where you go its same understanding never go to the hyped up west.

Their life in the west is no better than back home...they are still in mental prison
