The Chengdu Zoo (located in Sichuan province), recently made an effort to reassure visitors of their capabilities in case a wild animal escaped from its cage. To do this, they conducted a safety drill to make sure their staff was properly prepared to deal with this event. Sounds reasonable enough, right?
Here’s the kicker. The drill was focused on how to manage a dangerous tiger escape. So what better ways to simulate this then put a volunteer in a really poor looking tiger costume and have him run around the zoo acting like a rambunctious tiger? We can’t think of any….
The man dressed in the furry costume cleverly crawled through bushes and ran around the zoo to the general bemusement of the parks visitors. This tiger was not going to go down willingly. However, zoo staff and armed security soon cornered the “tiger” and by gunpoint captured the wild beast. The tiger was later seen being carried out on a stretcher.
Good for the manager who realized that releasing a real tiger might not be the greatest idea, even better; he decided to provide us with one of the most ridiculous stories to come out of Chinese zoo’s since the last time they had people dress up in animal costumes.
Only in China.
