They kept the official opening date of the Beijing-Shanghai high speed train under wraps for what seemed like ages but the news is now official! The train will begin operations on July 1st–90 pairs of the CRH380 bullet trains will run along the 1,318 km route from Shanghai Hongqiao station to Beijing South Railway station. The Ministry of Railway announced trains will run at either speeds of 300 or 250km/hr and prices will be staggered accordingly. There was no mention of the exact prices (still), but they anticipated that tickets will be on sale mid to late June. We are pysched! This will finally be a way out around chronically delayed domestic flights. Now if you wanna get on board just remember the new rules for buying tickets we explained over here.
