Yikes! A hairy situation occurred at a Shanghai salon when a man surnamed Zhao refused to pay after receiving a haircut, with Zhao subsequently being locked in a dark room by salon employees.
Zhao was only released after his girlfriend freed him by paying the fees demanded by the salon. The incident occurred at Haohan Hairdressing in Putuo District, where the regular priceof 15 yuan was raised to 880 yuan, because the hairdressers claimed they applied “various hair potions”. The salon also demanded that Zhao buy a membership card from the salon that would entitle him to discounts.
When Zhao refused, he was led to a back room, guarded by men that claimed to be gangsters. His girlfriend eventually came to the rescue, paying the salon 1,000 yuan. In the wake of the incident, the salon has been shut down, and an official with the Haohan Hairdressing Chain Stores Company claimed that they had fired the manager of the branch, and promised Zhao his money back.
The salon has been embroiled in previous barber barbarism extortion practices, as one customer was charged a whooping 15,000 yuan for a simple haircut. We know hairdressers have it pretty hard, what with all that sitting around amidst air-conditioners on full blast, but hostages? Some government branch needs to give these thugs a hair-dressing down, pronto.
