The future of Shanghai’s gang violence
Yes, two gangs whose primary form of transportation is roller-skates may seem on par with West Side Story synchronized snapping-like ridiculousness, but this is no laughing matter. According to Shanghai Daily, there is a real turf war happening out there between these two cliques and it’s starting to get serious.
The latest fight took place near Zhabei Park about 9pm on Monday. “There were about eight or nine people with tattoos and knives – we’d never seen them before,” [365 skating member] Liu said. “One guy put his knife to my neck and threatened ‘to teach me a lesson.'” The five injured were all “365 Skating” members.
This attack is surmised to be by the members of “N6 skating”. Both skating gangs run clinics around Shanghai for young Shanghai youth. The attack is guessed to be a threat to the club’s “turf”.
The 365 skating crew has been giving lessons in Zhabei park since March according to member Liu. However N6 skating has tried starting their own lessons in this area since May leading to other forms of conflict.
All things considered, why can’t they just roll with it?
