If you have lived in Shanghai for more than a week, then you know the city’s appetite for being bigger and better than the rest. Well, for those of you who love rankings, Shanghai has now become the 6th largest financial center in world, moving up from 8th place last year, according to the latest International Financial Centers Development Index.
Other cities in the top 10 include: New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris, Frankfurt, Sydney, and Amsterdam.
It’s also worth mentioning our perpetually not-as-good-as-us rivals Beijing ranked 14 (suck it).
It’s not all good news though as a recent poll showed that it is now more expensive to live in Shanghai than in New York City. Yes the day has finally come. The World Cost of Living survey released this year ranked NYC 49th while Shanghai 48th. We did it! Yay, I guess?
