He has ROOMS full of this
In case you weren’t aware, the internet has been a-swoon with former national-team gymnast Zhang Shangwu and his life of post-retirement homelessness and theft.
Since being uploaded 10 days ago, Zhang’s Youku video detailing his hardships has garnered over two million views, and the sympathies of netizens across the country. Fortunately for Zhang, one man who was touched by his story was Chinese billionaire turned rock star philanthropist, Chen Guangbiao.
Known for his boisterous version of philanthropy (which has been described as “violent philanthropy”), Chen is one of China most visible charity proponents. Besides personally pulling Japanese people from their earthquake destroyed homes, his other hobbies include giving out stacks of 100 RMB bills to Yunnan earthquake survivors, making it rain on the needy like a boss.
Now, Chen is stepping in to help China’s hard luck case of the moment. After watching Zhang Shangwu’s video, Chen decided it was time to once again be awesome. According to reports, Chen Guangbiao took it upon himself to offer Zhang a job at his company as a fitness instructor, with a salary of 10,000 yuan ($1,550) a month, an income that would be much higher than that of the average Beijinger.
And staying true to his ridiculous self, Chen Guangbiao mentioned that he would hire a tutor for “Comrade Shangwu”, in order for the former gymnast to learn presenting and singing skills, in the hopes that Zhang would impress the world as the main presenter for something called the Billionaire’s Charity Concert being held this September in Guizhou. Who says Chinese nouveau-riche don’t know what to do with their money?
