Back when 7-11s first opened up in this city, we got a little upset that none of them contained the iced slushie machines the chain is famous for everywhere else. Sometime in the last month or so, they rectified this situation! That’s right – there’s Slurpees in Shanghai now!
As you can tell from the picture, they’re 5rmb for a medium-sized Slurpee and just a renminbi more to upgrade to a large size. At the moment, there seems to be only Coke and Fanta flavors. Perhaps they’ll get a little more inventive with flavors once they’ve judged how much we actually like these things here.
I should note right now that I personally haven’t tried the Slurpees and can’t really compare them to their U.S. templates. But if you go to one today (it’s a good day if any for sucking ice), please tell us how you find them in comments.
Here’s a list of 7-11s in Shanghai.
I should also note that I have no idea whether every 7-eleven in the city has a Slurpee machine. I think your best bet would be the bigger ones that also offer lunch bento services.
