And they opened up yesterday, so get a move on it! Shanghai Restaurant Week is back, offering you discounted set deals on 3-course meals at super nice restaurants that may otherwise be somewhat out of your price range. You can reserve for up to eight people for lunch or dinner at over 70 Shanghai restaurants on Sept 5-11. Some places have already filled up, so if you’re interested, head over and make a reservation!
There are two groups of restaurants, Group A and Group B. Group A (denoted by a star on the list) includes notables such as Table No 1, Nougatine at Jean Georges, Palladio at Ritz-Carlton, and Sir Elly’s at Peninsula and cost 118RMB for lunch or 248RMB for dinner. Group B restaurants will run you 78RMB for lunch and 168RMB for dinner.
If Shanghaiist’s collective past experiences with Shanghai Restaurant Week are any indication, choosing the most renowned and popular restaurants doesn’t necessarily guarantee an excellent experience. We’ve been disappointed at the highest end and delighted by places that don’t book up immediately.
If you just don’t know or can’t decide, my strategy is to just choose a nice food I really want to eat (like steak or seafood) then just gamble on which restaurant will feed it to me.
Get out there and get eating, Shanghai!
