Video has surfaced of a PLA General revealing information to an assembled audience on specific cases of espionage, in a frank and straightforward manner that one would expect in a private conversation taking place in a dark parking lot. Major General Jin Yinan (金一南), currently the academic head of the Strategy Institute at National Defense University in Beijing, revealed that the government will often give secret sentences to spies, or accuse them having ‘economic’ or ‘financial’ issues in the media, obfuscating the truth behind their treasonous acts in order to save face.
The secrets were divulged during a lecture on “Suffering Brilliant” (苦难辉煌), Jin’s book on 20th century China which was published in 2009. The AP reports that lectures of this sort are often given to select groups of official audiences, in order to sway party members away from the lures of betraying the motherland.
The news video above comes courtesy of New Tang Dynasty television, which is affiliated with a certain persecuted religious group, so obligatory ‘Let’s All Quit the CCP’ footage has to be tacked onto the end.
However, the news and information concerning Jin’s lecture is legit. Video of the entire 242 minute lecture can be found here.
We hope Jin will recover from this embarrassing leak, and won’t be accused of ‘economic crimes’ (the same charge recently leveled at Ai Weiwei) anytime soon.
