Sure, everybody is clamoring to get last minute reservations to the big names of Shanghai Restaurant Week – Sir Elly’s, T8 and Nougatine were all reserved out a day after the VIPs got first picks. But just because your absolute first choice turned out to be everybody else’s in Shanghai as well doesn’t mean you should give up hope for Restaurant Week! Dining City helped us get in for sneak previews at some of the newer, or just less well known dining establishments that have joined.
Just FYI: we listed out restaurants that we wanted to try based on a combo of how new they were and whether or not they’d already been profiled in a whole bunch of magazines. Dining City, the organizers of Restaurant Week, then helped us get in contact with the establishments. We went there specifically to try out what they said they would be serving from September 5 to September 11, and therefore can not speak to what their usual menus entail… or what they’re like when they think no one’s blogging.
Still, caveats attached, the pictures above represent some of the best dishes of the places we tried, along with why we think you ought to head to that underrated/unrated establishment this time around.
You can make reservations or read more about the restaurants involved over at Dining City.
