Evan Osnos, the New Yorker’s impeccably-coiffed Beijing-based China correspondent, is in town for another chatty discussion with Jeffrey Wasserstrom, history professor at the University of California Irvine, and author of the China-primer China in the 21st Century: What Everyone Needs to Know.
The two spoke last year on the subject of blogging and writing about China, as part of Wasserstrom’s Cosmopolitan Conversations series at the Glamour Bar, and will hold forth this year in a talk concerning ‘China on the Move’.
Osnos, who’s been writing China-oriented sprawling New Yorker shit since 2008 on topics like Crazy English
shyster entrepreneur Li Yang, Africans in Guangzhou, Ai Weiwei, and Chinese tourists in the Old World, is definitely a journalist we recommend following.
Hopefully the talk will be somewhere between a gab-fest and a serious brass-tacks meditative discourse, along the lines of Osnos’ Colbert appearance earlier this year.
