Hurun released yesterday its list of richest women in mainland China yesterday. Topping the list this year is Wu Yajun, 47, of Longhu Real Estate Development Co Ltd, with an estimated family fortune of 420 billion yuan ($6.6 billion).
Zhang Yin, of Nine Dragons Paper, who in 2006 became the first woman to become China’s richest individual according to the Hurun List, is now ranked fourth on the charts.
Youngest on the list is 30-year-old real estate heiress Yang Huiyan, in second spot. The young woman became one of China’s richest people literally overnight in 2007 when her father, Yang Guoqiang, transferred 70% of Country Garden’s shares to her before its initial public offering.
18 of the 50 richest women in this year’s list are from the real estate industry, and six of them are among the top 10.
