Shanghai Daily has quite the round up of things to do over Golden Week, including learning facts about fireworks, Scottish dancing at a forest park, and getting stuck in terrible, terrible traffic.
Yet another boat crash happened in the Huangpu this week, this time throwing a crew of six people into the water when a coal barge capsized after colliding with a sand barge. Fortunately there were no casualties.
Shanghai Tower will have a set of four of the fastest elevators in the world when it’s completed in 2014! Mitsubishi Electric will supply all 106 elevators for the giant spiraling totem, the fastest of which will break records by traveling 10 meters per second (they’ll also have the longest traveling elevator, spanning over 500 meters.) In light of China’s technical record this year, thank god they’re being made in Japan.
Five people were arrested this week in a surprisingly headline-making “fake iPhone ring” bust. Nothing should be exciting about this story besides the fact that somebody was actually arrested for it.
