We’re sorry to say that the parade for the Shanghaiist & BEAN’s Halloween Party @ Cargo JJ has been canceled, meaning partygoers should head directly to Cargo JJ on Friday night, rather than Windows Too.
The authorities got wind of our little shindig, and proceeded to have a major freakout over the idea of costumed revelers gallivanting about during an Occupy Jing’an flashmob (or so they must’ve thought).
The party will still go on at Cargo JJ, and we’re going to party twice as hard, to make sure the evening is worthy of the tradition of excellence established by Shanghaiist Halloween Parties of yore.
And to make up for the sad news, we’ve slashed our prices! The previous cost of 150RMB is now being reduced to 100RMB before 11:30pm, which is a great deal, considering you’ll have all the libations you can handle available to you at Cargo JJ.
The regular price of 150RMB will then kick in after 11:30pm.
It’s a shame that the parade won’t be going on, but Halloween hasn’t exactly become mainstream in China yet. We were told recently that on the Chinese equivalent of a Day of the Dead when ghosts are supposed to roam the streets, everyone acts very sensibly (in a rather Chinese fashion) and stays at home.
Fat chance of that happening here! If you haven’t got your costume ready, you can click here for an English-language guide on what sort of costumes you can buy on Taobao.
Otherwise, you can get creative with things you have lying around the house.
Join Shanghaiist & BEAN for the most fun you’ll have this Halloween! Because nobody drinks harder than bloggers who spend all day online.
