Here’s yet another tragic reincarnation of the Yueyue story all over again. A 5 year old boy named Longlong (龙龙) passed away from critical injuries in Linyi, Shandong Province after passersby ignored his mother’s plea for help to rush him to the hospital.
It was a day like any other, and Longlong’s mother took him out for a meal at a restaurant. While they were waiting for their noodles to be served, Longlong went out strolling alone, and then she heard a big thud. The boy was struck by a beam right in his head, and blood was oozing profusely out of his mouth and ears.
Longlong’s mother kneeled and kowtowed, holding Longlong in her arms, and pleading for drivers to help take him to the hospital since the ambulance hadn’t arrived. But not a single person stopped, and no one offered any help. This included an urban administration (chengguan) vehicle. By the time an ambulance arrived, Longlong had already lost his life.
The beam was constructed by a shop next to the restaurant, which has since been smashed by Longlong’s furious family. The man who made the beam has been detained by local police.
Longlong’s story was one of the top stories on Sina Weibo on Wednesday, retweeted a whopping 23,000 times and counting. Online censors appeared to have kicked in though, and the story appears to have been scrubbed from major content and video portals.
