The Good Samaritan receiving guests in her ward
A Good Samaritan in Longkou by Yantai, Shandong has been hailed “the most beautiful girl” after she risked her life and was left crippled from rescuing a crash victim, reported Qilu Evening News. Diao Na, a 24-year-old Nanshan Tourism manager, was hit by a car and injured after she and her husband ran to the assistance of a wounded woman lying in the traffic lane.
The incident happened after 6pm on 23 October, when the couple was driving near Fulong mixing station on Tonghai Lu, Longkou. A young female who had blood over her head and body caught their immediate attention.
With images of Yueyue — the hit-and-run toddler who was ignored by 18 passersby in Foshan — flashing across her mind, Diao instinctively asked her husband to stop the car. According to reports, there was poor visibility at the time because it was raining and dark. They rang the hotlines of “120” and “122” while both of them were warning oncoming traffic of the injured victim, who was later revealed to be 29-year-old Wang Yuanyuan.
Diao was struck by a fast-moving car heading toward her and Wang, while her husband, who realised the danger of standing in the rush hour traffic, was on his way back to the car to get his triangle reflector. Diao and Wang were transported to Longkou City People’s Hospital by an ambulance on call.
Netizens have contrasted Diao’s actions with the bystanders’ in the late Yueyue‘s high-profile story, calling the Longkou resident “the most beautiful girl”. She is currently recovering from bone surgery in hospital with 7 permanent scars on her right leg, the longest of them from 10 stitches.
“I can’t wear a dress in future. But pants will do fine”, said Diao, with a smile.
