Hundreds carrying flowers and incense joined together in Jing’an to mourn the 58 people who died in a welder-sparked apartment fire last year at that same spot.
The Washington Post reports:
The memorial was peaceful, but did have political overtones because 26 people — including government officials — have been jailed for up to 16 years for bribery and other crimes related to the fire.
Our condolences to all families who’ve lost a loved one in this tragedy.
